Subspace Megaphaser
(Plasma-Dump Subspace Compression Continuum Distortion-Accelerated Fixed-Focus Megaphaser)

This weapon has a variable output, with untested maximum, because plasma is channeled directly
into it via the Dedicated EPS. It uses a continuum distortion technique similar to that used
in warp drive and the Warp Gun to accelerate the phaser beam to faster-than-light speeds
(warp 1 typically). A warp field generated from emitters around the weapon itself extends
out to the maximum range of the weapon (typically at least 3x that of standard Type X phasers),
where if the weapon misses the field collapses and makes the beam dissipate harmlessly.

The subspace compression technique utilized in the continuum distortion accelerator causes
differential field-potential values in nearby portions of the same warp field to give
different portions of the impact area to have different inertial densities, resulting in
structural strain on the target--makes the weapon far more destructive and in some cases can
even tear a target apart at the subatomic level.

The high power, the increased physical impact (because of continuum distortion acceleration),
and the molecular disruption (because of the subspace compression) make this weapon very
formidable against all known shields and lethal to nearly all known hull materials.

The Subspace Megaphaser requires extremely strong, SIF reinforced hardpoints. It can be fired
while in warp, but the targeting would limit its usefulness. Frequency and nutation changes
for this weapon are generally impractical and are thus executed only when absolutely necessary.

[This weapon is loosly based on the large phaser attached to the underside of the saucer of
the refit alternate-future Enterprise-D in The Next Generation's final episode
'…All Good Things'. From the information I originally collected, this weapon was 3 times as
powerful as the main type X phaser collimator array (one of them that is) on the original
Enterprise D. If you do the math, 200 segments * 5.1 MW per segment * 3, you would arrive at
3060 MW. These figures do not apply to the Subspace Megaphaser, however, as it could be less
or more powerful than the refit D's weapon.]
